Canadian realtors are unhappy with the proposed changes, meaning suggested deregulation within the housing market. The survey by Royal LePage Real Estate Services saw the majority of those who took part, against these modifications proposed by MLS.
Which of the MLS should be dealt with by accredited professionals and which shouldn't, is the the debate which worries professional property agents. Over three quarters of those who expressed their opinions, were concerned that by not regulating listings, the service and safeguards to customers could fall dramatically. Agents contradict the findings that the real estate brokerage climate in Canada is not competitive: 76.1% see it as highly competitive and further 19.2% as competitive.
The survey also tried to find in what way real estate professionals support buyers and sellers in completing their transactions. When a client is looking to buy or sell a home, the majority of professionals gave the following as their main considerations: Optimizing and protecting client's financial well-being, finalizing the transaction in a timely manner and providing the full package of brokerage services. Barely 0.6% of polled professionals said, they never helped a client avoid financial or transactional problems. 51.4% declared they did so very 'often' and 37.1% 'often'. This poll showed professionals are out there when it comes to marketing. Toronto MLS, open home, local advertising and own websites were frequently used by more than three quarters of of those surveyed.
At the end, the question about experience and continued education revealed that agents have been members of Royal LePage for 15.5 years on average and almost 90% of them participate on formal conferences, seminars or courses one to four times a year.
